Protesters Began their march east toward Causeway Bay, chanting there demands. .Shortly after their march began they were soon confronted by a wall of police. Within minutes the peaceful march exploded into mayhem. Police blanketed the area with tear gas, dividing the crowd and sending protesters scattering. One man was slammed to the ground, bloodying him, while officers sprayed members of the press with streams of pepper spray. People ran for cover from the offensive stike of the police, spreading through the area and becoming divided by the police. Protesters set up small road blocks and pulled bricks from sidewalks hurling them at police. One officer was injured and many bystanders where caught in the fray.
