RMRHPNE5–Richard II and Wat Tyler. By Henry Justice Ford (1860-1941). Walter 'Wat' Tyler (d1381) was a leader of the 1381 Peasants' Revolt in England. He marched with rebels from Canterbury to London to oppose the institution of a poll tax and demand economic and social reforms. Tyler was killed by officers loyal to King Richard II during negotiations at Smithfield, London.

RMMADBA1–King Richard II (1367 – 1400) was a son of Edward the Black Prince and King of England from the age of ten in 1377 until he was deposed on 30 September 1399 by his cousin Henry IV. He reigned in conflict with Parliament; and executed some of the opposing barons in 1397. Others including his cousin Henry Bolingbroke, Duke of Hereford (later Henry IV) were exiled and made himself absolute. In 1399 Bolingbroke returned from exile to lead a revolt; Richard II was deposed by Parliament and imprisoned in Pontefract Castle, where he died of starvation.
