Jul. 19, 1960 - Refugees from Congo Arrive in Port Kigoma: The first batch of 464 Belgian refugees from the Congo, arrived at Port Kigoma on Lake Tanganyika. A special train was placed at the disposal of the refugees who comprised mostly Belgians, but also included Greeks, Italians and Britishers. The train halted at a siding adjacent to Ukonga camp 10 miles from Dares Salaam where the refugees were being accommodated.
