On 5th July, the people of the Isle of Man (Manxmen) celebrate their national day, Tynwald Day. The day is a celebration of the island's norse heritage and over a Millenium of continuous self-government. As part of the celebrations, a Viking Villiage is re-created in the small glen behind Tynwald Hill, Cooil y Ree, offering the public a chance to learn about the Viking way of life, handle replica weapons and see the type of clothes our predecessors wore. Around 50 Vikings from around the world set up the encampment.
