This picture of Queen Elena of Italy was made in connection with the celebration of the 40 anniversary of her marriage to King Victor Emmanuel of Italy. To commemorate the event, the Pope presented the Golden Rose - the highest gift he can award a woman - to the Queen. 8 April 1937
