PHOTOGRAPH BY RICHARD GRANGE 5th August 2018. Billingshurst, West Sussex. The 12 hour enduarance lawnmower race, organised by the British Lawn Mower Racing Association, started at 8pm on Saturday and teams from around the world raced through the night to the finish line at 8am Sunday morning. The Grass Bandits bounce across a hard track. At 11 hours and 30 minutes, Northerners Kick Grass were in the lead and set to win their 6th consecutive 12 hour race, but they suffered a mechanical failure. 20 minutes later the team in second place, from Luxembourg, Les's Lux Pussies, took the lead and then the win. The lead teams covered a distance of 400 miles during the race with 3 drivers per team taking their turn in the driving seat. Hundreds of spectators stayed up well in to the night to watch the race.
