A little distanceabove the old bridge is Indian Rock, where the chieftains of bygone days heldtheir councils of war. GUIDE TO THE STREETS. The streets of Philadelphia are laid out in squares, 100 numbers being allottedto each side of a square. The numbering of houses on streets running east and westcommences at the Delaware River, —the even numbers being on the south side, and the odd numbers on the north. Thus, on the north side of Market street, be-ginning at Fourth street, and going west, the numbers are 401, 403, 405, etc.; on thesouth side, 400, 402, 404, etc.; at Fifth street the numbers in 500 commence, at Sixthstreet, 600, and so on. A glance at the following diagram will show plainly the po-sition of the streets and the system of numbering the houses, — TVEST. T H. ^ 1 ^ 12 1.
