The Very Revd David Ison will say country should "not [...] rest content until lawmakers act to put right what is wrong for disabled people" at '10, 000 Cuts & Counting' event today, a ceremony of remembrance and solidarity to begin on Parliament Square at midday, highlighting human cost of government’s attack on the UK's disabled community. Speakers including the Dean of St Paul’s Dr David Ison, Michael Meacher MP, Muslim social commentator Mohammed Ansar, GP and campaigner Dr Louise Irvine will demand immediate end to the Atos Work Capability Assessment WOW Petition, DPAC, Occupy activists and the Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral working together for the first time in an event which will combine speeches, prayers, drama and song from the London Youth Gospel Choir. This Saturday, as Conservative Party delegates gather in Manchester for the start of their conference, a very different congregation will assemble on Parliament Square to remember those forced to pay the human costs of austerity, for a crisis they didn't create. Occupy London supporters and Dr David Ison, the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral will join forces for the first time ever, alongside Michael Meacher MP, disability rights campaign groups Disabled People Against Cuts, actress and Wow Petition campaigner Francesca Martinez, to highlight the human cost of the Coalition austerity programme. All are invited to the ‘10, 000 Cuts & Counting; Scrap Atos - End the Work Capability Assessment' service of remembrance and solidarity on Parliament Square, from 12 to 2pm on Saturday 28th September.
