RM2E9CANJ–Elephants take to the arena at the three-ring Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus the USA in 1974. It was called ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’. Changes in attitudes in using animals for entertainment has meant the retirement from performing for animals such as the elephant. Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus began that process in 2015 when the circus’s parent company, Feld Entertainment, first announced it would be phasing out its use of performing elephants. The elephants move into a brand-new conservation centre in Florida in 2021.
