Top hat makers, brothers Ray (left) and Derek Corn, at their workshop in Amelia Street, London. The Top Hat is 200 years old on Monday, Jan 13. It was first worn by John Hetherington, a hat-maker in the Strand, who was arrested, and charged with causing a breach of the peace by wearing a tall structure having a shiny lustre calculated to alarm timid people.
