Glenfinnan Monument was erected in 1815, in tribute to the Jacobite clansmen who fought and died in the cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. It was designed by eminent Scottish architect, James Gillespie Graham.Situated at the head of Loch Shiel was erected in 1815 to mark the place where Prince Charles Edward Stuart ("Bonnie Prince Charlie") raised his standard, at the beginning of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. framed by the hills and woods of Moidart, Ardgour and Lochaber. On the top of the tower a statue of Bonnie Prince Charlie looks back at Glenfinnan & the railway viaduct more famous now for the scene in Harry Potter. You can go inside the tower, nearby is a visitor centre run by the Scottish National Trust
