February 18, 2023, Munich, Bavaria, Germany: A demonstrator in Munich, Germany protests against the perceived politics of appeasement by the Olaf Scholz government and the SPD which has led to loss of Germany's reputation as the leader of Europe and left allies shifting to Poland. Defying numerous anti-Munich Security Conference demos in the city aimed at supporting Putin and denying Ukraine’s right to exist, Ukrainians and German supporters, alongside Anton “Toni” Hofreiter (Greens in the Bundestag), Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (FDP), and Florian Hahn (CSU, ) rallied to continue supporting the Ukrainian state and people in defending themselves against Russia’s war. At one point, a mixture of conspiracy theorists, Querdenker, leftists, and rightists marched by the demo and lobbed verbal provocations at the Ukrainians who simply replied with chants for armament for Ukraine. Defense analysts state that if Ukraine isn’t given the support needed to decisively beat Russia now, Europe risks an expansion of the war into EU and NATO territory. The Greens have also stated they have revised their policies, which still includes pacifism, but they acknowledge pacifism will not stop Putin and save lives.
