More information:

Anangu women's sacred site Tjukatjapi near Uluru Ayers Rock It took some time before the women's sites were recognized by the authorities. Even after Uluru returned to Aboriginal ownership. The men had been able to tell the officials about their secret sacred sites and got them protected by signs and fences. The women had not been able to do so because initially there were no female officials. And it was taboo to speak to men about these locations.
