Penzance, Cornwall, UK. 27th August 2017. Pirates gather on the seafront at Penzance in an attempt to break the Guiness world record for the greatest number of pirates in place. In 2014 Penzance narrowly failed to regain the title from Hastings, as they were 77 pirates short – most of whom were drinking outside the seafront pubs – and hence outside of the official counting zone. They need 15000 pirates to win the event this year. Credit: Simon Maycock/Alamy Live News
