Queretaro, Mexico. 20th May, 2022. Children from the Casa de Cuna orphanage in Queretaro wave German and Mexican flags. The then DFB treasurer and later president Egidius Braun had visited the orphanage in 1986 and was moved by the misery there. Together with the national players Völler and Toni Schumacher as well as team manager Franz Beckenbauer, he returned and eventually founded the "Mexico Aid", which is now called the "Egidius Braun Foundation".
