A study commissioned by UNESCO in 2005 in three major cities in Indonesia—Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya—found that the children surveyed said that the main constraints for continuing education were the household economy. Their parents have an attitude and preference on work than on education for their children. UUD 1945, the Indonesia's State Constitution, has stated that everyone has a basic right to get education to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
