Senou Camp sits on the southern edge of Bamako, Mali’s capital city. It is one of eight such informal camps around the city and, by itself, is home to 223 families and just over 1,000 IDPs. The families living here have fled violence and insurrection in the north and central parts of the country. Because most of them have no means of income or regular food source, hunger is a daily challenge and malnutrition among its population remains rife. Here, women and children fetch water at the camp's only water kiosk.
