Bushy Beach Scenic Reserve is the last remaining in the area, dominated by hebe, ngaio, mahoe and broaddleaf which shelters penguins and other seabirds. The silvereye or wax-eye (Zosterops lateralis) is a very small omnivorous passerine bird of the south-west Pacific. It can also be named white-eye or tauhou.
