Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, CanadaMore information:
Fortress Louisbourg was the capital of the French Ile Royale, the French colony located on the East Coast of Canada in the 1700s. Subjected to two sieges by the British, it was later destroyed by victorious British troops to prevent it from being used again. Starting in the 1960s, the Canadian Federal Government started to reconstruct the fortress as a National Historic Site operated by Parks Canada.
