Knaresborough is a historic market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England located on the River Nidd, 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Harrogate. The town grew around the river gorge and this picturesque town spills down to the riverbank. Towering above are the ruins of Knaresborough Castle and the iconic viaduct. The stone viaduct was completed in 1851 and built to carry a branch of the Leeds & Thirsk Railway. The four-span bridge is approximately 100 metres long and 30 metres high, carrying 2 tracks on 4 arches. This shot was taken from the Castle Gardens on a summer's afternoon.
