More information:

Yucca brevifolia is a plant species belonging to the genus Yucca in the family Agavaceae. It is tree-like in habit. This monocotyledonous tree is native to southwestern North America in the states of California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada, where it is confined mostly to the Mojave Desert. Joshua Tree National Park is located in southeastern California. Declared a U.S. National Park in 1994 when the US Congress passed the California Desert Protection Act. In addition to Joshua tree forests, the western part of the park includes some of the most interesting geologic displays found in California's deserts.
