Spontaneous miscarriage is defined as the loss of a fetus before 180 days pregnancy. There are many causes: maternal disease, genital infection, tumor, fetal anomaly, hormonal factors. In most cases however, spontaneous miscarriage corresponds to expulsion of an abnormal egg. Blood loss and an open cervix are signs of miscarriage. It is important to search for the underlying cause in order to prevent another miscarriage.
