Moorea is one of the Windward Islands, part of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. It is 17km (11 miles) northwest of Tahiti Island. The true spelling of Moorea is Mo'ore'a, which means 'yellow lizard' in Tahitian. Along with Bora Bora (in the Leeward Islands region of French Polynesia), it is considered one of the world's most spectacular and beautiful tropical island destinations.
