MSS Webster, one of two giant machines used to cast concrete for the Mersey Gateway Bridge construction across the River Mersey. between Runcorn and Widnes, Cheshire. The image shows the machine currently starting to build the section of the bridge which will cross the Manchester Ship Canal. The machine measures 157 metres in length, 8m high and 22m across at their widest point. Named after the designer of the historic transporter bridge which joined Runcorn to West Bank in Widnes.
