Lithiasis is the formation of calculi (stones) which can obstruct a canal or cause functional problems in an organ. If a calculus does not disappear on its own, surgery must be performed to remove it. Here, a CAT scan shows the pancreas in royal blue with the calculi (stones) showing up as small light blue spots.
