Sydney, Canada - July 28, 2023: The Canada Games Complex was built at Cape Breton University to host the 1987 Canada Winter Games, and was decommissioned in 2016. In 2022 Sydney won the Kraft Hockeyville competition and will receive $250, 000, $10, 000 worth of youth hockey equipment and gets to host an NHL preseason game in the fall. The newly renovated arena will provide a permanent home to the 20 girls’ teams in the Cape Breton Blizzard Female Hockey Association.
