Truck No. 5 be-ing on the fire-escapes on the sixth story, at imminent danger to themselves, help-ing to effect the rescue. The companyas a corps will bear favorable comparisonwith any other company in the Depart-ment as a courageous and determinedband of fire fighters. The other members of the companyare Charles Mulloy, driver; WilliamSerens, tillerman; and William Otto, T.J. Harrington, Henry McMahon, J. H.OBrien, T. Simmons and E. F.Murray, truckmen.. LIEUT. MATHEW FARLEY Mathew Farley, lieutenant of TruckNo. 5 was born in San Francisco in 1863, joined the Department in 1891 as extra-man; promoted to lieutenant of presentcompany. TRUCK COMPANY NO 6. Truck Company No. 6 is located withEngine No. 21, at 1152 Oak street. Itcontains nine men, so that this portionof the Western Addition is well served, seeing that seventeen sterling and reli-able fire-fighters are constantly in attend-ance under the one roof. Truck No. 6was organized in 1893. The Captain isWilliam E. Kelly, who was born in SanFrancisco, April 10, 1862 and joined theDepartment in June, 1892. He was firsta member of Truck No. i and in Septem-ber, 1894, became assistant foreman and 168 SAN FRANCISCO FIREMEN later, foreman. On March i, 1898, wastransferred to his present company.Truck No. 6 has long since won its spursas a valorous and formidable foeman tothe Fire-King, and has seen much activeservice dur
