Squadron Leader Edwin Rowland Moon DSO (8 June 1886 - 29 April 1920) served in the Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Air Force during the First World War. He was killed when the flying boat he was piloting crashed near Felixstowe on 29 April 1920. The propellor marking his grave is believed to be from the the crashed aircraft. The inscription on the propellor reads: IN AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF SQUADRON LEADER ER MOON DSO RAF KILLED 29 APRIL 1920 IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY ERECTED BY HIS COMRADES OF No 230 SQUADRON ROYAL AIR FORCE FELIXSTOWE
