The Imperial Abbey of Rot an der Rot in the district of Biberach was one of the first Premonstratensian monasteries in Upper Swabia. The monastery was probably founded in 1126 by Hemma von Wildenberg as a double monastery. The Upper Gate and the Lower Gate were the only passages in the outer monastery wall.
