In this way I once cured an obstinate spinaventosa of the lower jaw, about the size of an egg. In other cases, thedisease seems to have been transferred to the lungs, andthe patients have died of phthisis pulmonalis. The bonesare all subject to osteo sarcoma ; but those of the extremi-ties, as far as I have observed, are peculiarly so. Thebones of the face also, as well as those of the pelvis, arefrequently affected. The form of the tumour varies verymuch. Sometimes it is circumscribed and smooth, at othertimes irregular or studded with inequalities or projections, the apices of which are apt to inflame and ulcerate. Com-monly the pain attending every stage of the complaint isdeep
