More information:

The Lewisham Food Bank in New Cross, London. Clients usually come once a week for as long as they need, paying £1 for 10 items plus 1 extra item which could be soap, toothpaste, loo rolls/sanitary towels. Lewisham Food Bank was set up by community activists Ray Woolford and Barbara Raymond. Half the Food Bank runs as a charity shop with furniture and items donated to cover rent and rates to help keep the Food Bank project sustainable. The number of people relying on food banks to survive tripled in 2013 and is set to increase further throughout 2014 as British government austerity measures are continually enforced.
