The Louxor cinema was built in 1921 and its architecture has been called a distinctive art deco neo-egyptian in style. The cinema is listed as an historical building. It closed temporarily in 1988 but was renovated and reopened to the public inl 2013 after being threatened with demolition, activists fought to keep the building standing. Situated in the La Chapelle district, the Louxor screens recent films as well as cinema classics and is a landmark in the area.
