The statue of Saint. Aidan was erected in his honour on Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island (Lindisfarne) in Northumberland, Britain. Holy Island is the birthplace of Christianity bought by Saint Aiden in 635AD in Angelo-Saxon times. From here the Christian message spread around the world. Saint Aiden founded the monastery and Saint Cuthbert, founder of Lindisfarne Priory, is still a place of pilgrimage today. The small tidal island is only accessible from the mainland at low tide using a causeway at certain times of the day.
