The "stumbling stone" is a type of celebratory "monument" devised by the German artist Gunter Demning to commemorate all the victims of Nazism regardless of ethnicity and religion. The project places engraved brass stones in front of a former residence for a Holocaust victim who was deported and killed by Nazi Germany, began in Germany and has since spread, with more than 60, 000 stones placed across 21 countries in Europe. Giorgio Labò (born in 1919) was an architectural student, born in Modena who, after the armistice of 8 September 1943, became part of the Resistance under the name of battle of "Lamberto". On February 1, 1944 he was arrested, tortured and then killed, with shooting at Forte Bravetta in Rome.He was awarded the gold medal for military valour.
