Sheriff was founded by two former policemen in 1993 and now dominates the region's economy with 12, 000 employees. The company will be associated with former Transnistrian President Igor Smirnov and will also serve the money laundering. Transnistria is a repulsive Moldovan republic under Russian influence east of the river Dnister. The region split in 1990 from Moldova and is and is not recognized by any other country.
