In April 2023 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced that the Shetland Iron Age sites at Jarlshof, Mousa and Old Scatness, known collectively as the Zenith of Iron Age Shetland, would have government backing in a bid for UNESCO World Heritage status.
