Costume of Bolbec. The women of Bolbec only wear this costume to baptisms, weddings, family reunions or festivals at church. The rest of the time they wear the fashions of Paris. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
