Middlesbrough, UK. 06th June, 2014. Grave of Stanley Hollis (21st, September - 8th, February, 1972) who has the unique distinction of being the only soldier awarded the Victorian Cross on D-Day, 6th June 1944. A hero in France, where a memorial statue dedicated to Stanley Hollis and his Regiment, The Green Howards can be found at Crepon, Stanley Hollis remained largely unknown in his home town. Plans are now in place for a memorial statue of the local hero in his home town, Middlesbrough
