This statue of Mahatma Gandhi was created by the sculptress Fredda Brilliant and was erected in Tavistock Square in central London in 1968. It commemorates the man who led India’s struggle for freedom from British rule by peaceful non-violent means. India eventually achieved independence in 1947.
