Farina shop window. On 13 July 1709, Giovanni Maria Farina founded what is now the oldest perfume factory in the world. Giovanni Maria Farina (1685-1766) named his fragrance EAU DE COLOGNE in honour of Cologne. Eau de Cologne became a favourite of crowned heads, as evidenced by more than 50 titles as purveyor to the court, and today the Farina House also houses a small museum in addition to the Farina shop
