The Danjiangkou Dam is a concrete gravity dam in Hubei province, China. It creates the large Danjiangkou Reservoir and is part of the South-North Water Transfer Project. This mass engineering and infrastructure project (spanning over several decades) diverts water from the Yangtze river to the more arid and industrialized North of China through three canal systems. The dam is also used for hydro power and flood control.
