The Washington National Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, is located in Washington DC and serves as a prominent religious landmark in the United States. This impressive Neo-Gothic structure was built by the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation and is overseen by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. The cathedral's construction began in 1907 and was completed in 1990, spanning 83 years. Inspired by the English Gothic style, the cathedral features intricate detailing, soaring vaulted ceilings, and extensive use of limestone.
